When I first was contacted by Angie about photographing Mya for her sweet 16 birthday gift I was so excited! What an amazing time in Mya’s life to capture. The more I spoke with Angie the greater the connection between her and her daughter became evident and I knew we had to include Angie in some of the images as well. The gift to Mya of having her own images is fabulous to begin with but to also have these pictures with her mom that will last a lifetime is priceless. I cannot wait to watch this young woman blossom even more into an incredible young adult. The sky is the limit for her.
I asked Mya to tell me a bit about herself as well as what this entire experience means to her and here is what she said….
“I’ve been in horse 4-H for 7 years, going on 8. Currently I have two horses; Dually and Bobcat. I just got Dually a couple months ago, he’s my new gaming (barrels, pole weaving, speed events) prospect. I’ve had Bobcat for a couple years, he’s my performance horse, I show him western and English, as well as bareback and trail course too. My favorite by far is gaming, it’s thrilling and super fun to place and beat your own personal records in times. I’ve been to state for horses twice, and placed 6th in state for my age division in two barrel flags. I’m the president of my 4H club, and I love being a leader and an influence to the younger members in our group. I take school and education very seriously and always strive to get the best grades, school always comes first for me. As you know, I’ve been with Kole for 2 years, our relationship is important to me as well. (I photographed Kole last year as well).
