When I was given the opportunity to photograph and work with Karalee as a Shonda Hilton Photography Senior Model I was so stoked. She is such a driven and passionate young woman and it is contagious I tell. Keep reading to find out what makes her tick and give her some love for these amazing images.
“My names Karalee Bergsma. I’ve grown up on Whidbey Island for seventeen years now but for such a small place I sure do have big dreams. When I was three years old I was introduced into the sport, soccer. As my heart grew fond of the game, it was more then a hobby yet a lifestyle. I’ve played for 12 years but throughout that time I’ve always had a passion for fashion. When I was 10, fashion first struck my mind as important. I remember the impact I felt and carried with me throughout my teen years. I remember as a child I’d convince my friends into giving my parents a fashion show every time they’d come over. My Junior year I was enrolled at Sno-Isle Skills Center for a Fashion Merchandise class. I suppose fashion was always a dream and a hobby but I guess I never thought for it to be more than just that. I’m in my final days of the first year now and will be attending for a second year for my last year in high school. When people think of the term Fashion they don’t put into perspective the great effect it truly has. Fashion is an expression of one’s inner self. I feel like, as young people, we look to fashion to express who we are as a person. Our generation uses clothing to express themselves, and oftentimes, we find ourselves in what we wear.
Therefore, the photography sessions I’ve had with Shonda Hilton Photography have helped me to not only express myself and find confidence as a young woman, I also plan to put these photos towards my future blog, but portfolio for the colleges of my dreams.
As a dream of mine I hope to attend The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) or The Fashion Industry of Design and Merchandise (FIDM) to further pursue my love of fashion. I hope by attending one of these amazing schools to be successful, creative, and to share the amazement of fashion with the world.”
